Description

The Metropolitan Horsemen’s Association (MHA) was founded in 1938 to promote horsemanship and equestrian sports in the Bay Area. Initially focused on community events, it expanded to include horse shows, trail advocacy, and legislation supporting horse owners. The association built the Sequoia Arena in Joaquin Miller Park in 1948 and continues to host major horse shows, attracting participants from across California. MHA remains dedicated to preserving equestrian traditions and fostering a strong horse community in Northern California.

MHA’s Mission
MHA members work to promote equestrian sports, uniting horse people across all disciplines to develop good horsemanship. We work to maintain Sequoia Arena and to preserve equestrian facilities and trail access in the East Bay Area.

The Metropolitan Horsemen's Association speaks for the equestrian community in public meetings. We interact with other groups and agencies to promote the equestrian presence in the East Bay.
