Emma
Want to build a relationship with the world's sweetest mare? Looking for a partial leasor in Briones for my 19 year old Appendix mare Emma. She's been out of work for a few months so it's actually a great chance to build up with her slowly, because while's she's kind to everyone, she's the kind of mare who really bonds with the person who spends time with her. (I'm speaking from experience, as she got injured within my first month of bringing her home and we bonded deeply through that daily care!)
*About Emma*: Former polo pony, so she's extremely well trained, responsive and fast when you let her be. She's very brave - while she'll mildly spook occasionally on trail (aka stop suddenly, maybe a sidestep), her first instinct is to stop and think about it. She's a "thinking introvert" as a trainer once described her - I've done so well with her by letting her work things through vs pushing her into/past them. Her ground manners are impeccable - I let my two kids lead her and she's very respectful of space. She responds very well to gentle everything - voice, touch, aids. When she's in shape she will want to GO at the canter but responds very well being asked to come back down a bit. She's fine tootling around the arena, and I ride her solo and in groups on trails. She has NOT been on the trails at her new barn yet so we'd need a plan to get her adjusted to them. She's very fun to ride, and truly a joy to be around. She is safe and sane - I think she has such a great brain. If you've been looking for that equine friend who nickers when you walk into the barn, Emma is your girl.
*About the Facility*: Wonderful barn. Kind people, quiet setting, large indoor arena, round pen, roads and trails to ride off on. There's a trainer onsite for lessons too. I have an endurance saddle that fits her to a tee, an English AP that fits her OK, and a bareback saddle pad.
*About a Potential Leasor*: When she's in regular work, I think Emma is fine for an advanced beginner, but due to her being out of work for so long, I'm looking for an intermediate rider and up. I want someone with a soft seat, hands and demeanor, someone who is truly hoping for a buddy in a horse. I want someone who can commit to at least two days a week, as I only want 2 people max riding her because of how much she bonds with her person (so me and the leasor). I don't have a preference on your discipline but Emma isn't a jumping or dressage horse. Please be OK with the fact that the build up will need to be slow! I rode her at the walk for 20 minutes yesterday and that was plenty for her.
2 days a week = $250 / month. 3 days a week = $360 a month. 4 days a week = $480 / month
