MinutesLearn how to work cattle with the least amount of stress, like the most expert cowhands do. The clinic will focus on tracking cattle, a great way to control your horse's speed and teach him/her how to control a cow through positioning. Work will be in and out of the herd to give you and your horse an opportunity to practice your positioning skills.
Mike Bridges is an internationally known clinician and horseman in the California vaquero style with more than 60 years of making a living on horseback. The vaquero style uses finesse, not force, signal, not pressure. The rider must possess knowledge of the way in which his horse thinks and how he responds to different stimuli. He must also understand the biomechanics of his horse, and the importance of timing and balance. Location: Novato Horsemen, 600 Bugeia Lane. Horse & rider fee: $250 per day; $700 all three days. Spectators welcome: $25/day or $60/all three days. Contact: Scott Colvin, clinic host (415) 716-1927 voice/text; or [email protected]
