Equine Veterinary Assistant

Legacy Equine Sports Medicine is an ambulatory equine practice concentrating on soundness evaluations, advanced diagnostics and treatments and integrative medicine (acupuncture, chiropractic services). We are looking for a veterinary assistant or registered technician to join our team who is enthusiastic about working with clients and their horses. Qualifications:

• Prior experience handling and restraining horses is required
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Capable and willing to learn new software, apps ,and programs used within the practice
• Collaborative and cooperative team-player
• Polite, respectful and helpful attitude
• Physically capable of lunging/jogging horses, standing for extended periods of time, and lifting equipment greater than 30lbs.
• Must have clean driving record and pass background check
• Previous technician experience is desired, but not required

Responsibilities

• Work along veterinarians to provide sports medicine care (jogging, lunging, restraining horses) during appointments
• Assist in procedures, including preparation for procedures, restraining horses, assist in imaging (digital radiographs, ultrasound, etc)
• Organize and clean veterinary vehicle, equipment, and treatment areas as well as restocking inventory
• Preparing laboratory samples
