Description
We are former horse professionals who offer Show Horse retirement on our 400 acre Northern California Ranch. Horses are seen daily, have an LMF and hay lunch and can wear blankets in the winter if needed. We only take 25 and trainer references are required. We are located outside of Grass Valley, Ca.

January 3, 2024 at 5:59 amI retired my horse in 2017. Finding a good retirement home is extremely difficult. I refused to even consider “dry-lotting” Ricky !! I warned my trainer at the time that I would euthanize instead. Luckily a previous trainer referred me to Karan. I truly found Horse Heaven. These 23 horses are the blessed ones. Karan is highly knowledgeable and experienced. In retirement the goal is not to extend life at all costs. Rather it is to provide comfort and to allow these hand raised horses to be just horses. Karan’s philosophy is that a new horse has to re-learn how to speak “horse,” how to interact in a herd setting. On 400 acres there is plenty of room for every personality and pecking order. In Ricky’s case, he joined the upper herd and earned the role of 2nd alpha. He has a mate, Bea, a little TB he is devoted to. Horses are supplemented with hay during the summer months, vaccinated and hooves trimmed. They are given pain meds if required. Ricky will be 25 in April of this year. He has entered “the window” – Karan promises me he’ll never have “one bad day” – Karan has a waiting list and horses are only taken by “trainer referral.” I urge all of you to have a plan in place so that when the time comes you will be guaranteed the peace of mind that your partner who has given so much is rewarded with this gift of living out a life that nature intended.

The owners are life long horse professionals who are honest and caring.
I have recommended this facility to several of my horse colleagues as being my go to place for “retirees “

My horses are part of my family and I want nothing but the absolute best for them. So I searched high and low for the perfect place and found Karan’s ranch near Grass Valley, CA. 400 acres of endless grazing, living amongst the best of friends, daily body-checks and graining (with supplements and medications if needed), hay during the summer months, blanketing during the colder season, routine trims, vet, and vaccinations – my horses are living their absolute best lives which they very much deserve! Thank you, Karan, for all that you do!
